Frequently asked questions
Subscriptions & purchases
How do I restore my purchase?
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe. Open Stoa and tap Restore purchases in Settings, or on the Stoa Premium screen. If it doesn’t appear, check your subscription status in iOS Settings > [your name] Apple Account > Subscriptions.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, go to Settings > [your name] Apple Account > Subscriptions, choose Stoa and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or before your free trial ends) to avoid being charged for the next one. You keep Premium until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I request a refund?
All payments are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, choose “Request a refund” and select your Stoa purchase.
Widgets
How do I add a Stoa widget to my Home Screen?
- Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap Edit (or the + button) in the top corner, then Add Widget.
- Search for Stoa, pick a size and tap Add Widget.
- Tap Done. To change what a widget shows, touch and hold it and choose Edit Widget.
How do I add a Lock Screen widget?
- Unlock your iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID, then touch and hold the Lock Screen.
- Tap Customize, then choose the Lock Screen.
- Tap the widget area below the time (or the date above it), then choose Stoa from the list.
- Tap Done.
My widget isn’t updating
iOS decides exactly when widgets refresh, so updates may not happen at the same minute every day. If a widget seems stuck:
- Open the Stoa app once. This usually refreshes widgets right away.
- Turn off Low Power Mode, which can delay widget updates.
- Remove the widget and add it again.
- Restart your iPhone, and make sure you have the latest version of Stoa from the App Store.
Apple Watch
How do I get Stoa on my Apple Watch?
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to My Watch, scroll to Available Apps and tap Install next to Stoa. You can also open the App Store on your Apple Watch and search for Stoa. If the watch app doesn’t show your latest content, open Stoa on your iPhone with your watch nearby, then open it on your watch.
iCloud sync
iCloud sync isn’t working
Stoa automatically syncs favorites and journal entries through your own private iCloud whenever your device is signed in to iCloud. If changes aren’t showing up on another device:
- Open Stoa’s settings on each device and check that the iCloud status shows sync is on. If it doesn’t, make sure iCloud is allowed for Stoa in iOS Settings > [your name] Apple Account > iCloud > Saved to iCloud (called “Apps Using iCloud” on some iOS versions).
- Check that every device is signed in to the same Apple Account, with iCloud Drive turned on (Settings > [your name] Apple Account > iCloud).
- Check that you have free iCloud storage and a working internet connection.
- Leave Stoa open for a minute on both devices. Syncing can take a little time, especially after a fresh install.
The developer can’t see or recover data in your iCloud. Everything stays in your private account.
Notifications & permissions
My daily reminder isn’t arriving
- Make sure the daily reminder is turned on in Stoa’s settings and set to the time you want.
- Check that notifications are allowed: iOS Settings > Notifications > Stoa and turn on Allow Notifications. If you declined the permission earlier, this is where to turn it back on.
- Check whether a Focus (such as Do Not Disturb or Sleep) is silencing notifications at that time, and whether Scheduled Summary is holding them.
Reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone. They don’t depend on a server.
I can’t save share images to Photos
Stoa needs “Add Photos Only” permission to save a share image to your library. It can’t see your existing photos. If you declined the permission earlier, go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > Stoa and choose Add Photos Only, then try saving again.
