Stoa: Daily Stoic Quotes
Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) cover your use of the iOS and Apple Watch app Stoa: Daily Stoic Quotes (“Stoa” or “the app”), made by Hemant Bhonsle, an individual developer in California, United States (“I”, “we” or “us”). By downloading or using Stoa, you agree to these Terms.
1. Apple’s Standard EULA
Stoa is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA), which is part of these Terms. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA applies, except where these Terms give you more rights. These Terms are between you and the developer, not Apple.
2. Subscriptions
Stoa offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions, called Stoa Premium, through Apple In-App Purchase:
| Subscription | Length | Price (USD) | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stoa Premium Weekly | 1 week | $3.99 per week | 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers |
| Stoa Premium Yearly | 1 year | $29.99 per year | None |
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars. Prices in other countries and currencies may differ, and the exact price for your region is shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm your purchase, or when the free trial ends if you started one. Apple handles all payments. We never receive your payment details.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the same price and for the same length, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trial. If you are eligible for the 3-day free trial of Stoa Premium Weekly, you will not be charged until the trial ends. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and $3.99 per week (or your local price) is charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings > [your name] Apple Account > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Premium access until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. The developer cannot issue refunds directly.
- Restoring purchases. If you reinstall the app or use a new device signed in to the same Apple Account, use Restore Purchases in the app to restore an active subscription.
3. Free features
Without a subscription, Stoa includes one reading a day and the Marble and Ink themes. Free features may change over time.
4. Content disclaimer
Stoa offers philosophical content for personal reflection. It is not medical, psychological, mental health, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services right away. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Modern reflections in the app are interpretations offered for reflection and may not match every reader’s or scholar’s reading of the original texts.
5. Texts, copyright and trademarks
The Stoic passages in Stoa come from public-domain English translations, including those by George Long and Aubrey Stewart. Those translated texts are in the public domain.
Everything else in the app, including the modern reflections, notes, collections, design, artwork, themes, icons and software, is © 2026 Hemant Bhonsle. All rights reserved. You may share passages and share cards from the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the app’s reflections, design or software without written permission.

6. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer, modify or interfere with the app except as permitted by law, and not to use the app for any unlawful purpose.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Stoa handles information.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stoa is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data such as journal entries will never be lost. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, Stoa. The developer’s total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for Stoa in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using Stoa after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
